A Heritage Costumes Exclusive.
Dracula is a character who’s frightened generations of literature lovers, movie buffs, and fantasy fans. Undead and centuries old, Count Dracula is a vampire and aristocrat who resides in a decaying Transylvania castle that terrifies the people of Eastern Europe. The vampire known as Dracula can only be stopped by a wooden stake, a ring of garlic, or the light of the rising sun according to the legend of his life. With his eerie fangs, pale skin, and bloodthirsty taste for humans, Dracula is the vampire archetype—the first vampire to suck blood was introduced on the pages of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula in 1897.
Irish author Bram Stoker created Dracula with the publication of his Gothic horror novel by the same name. Count Dracula became an immediate hit, both terrifying and fascinating to audiences around the world, and established a long history of vampire stories, fantasies, films, and so much more. Yet before Dracula became the first vampire in a line of so many others to grace the world stage, the Count faced off against John Harker and Professor Abraham Van Helsing as well as a small group of British men and women who hoped to end his reign of terror. In the years and centuries since the 1800s, Dracula has appeared in countless other works of fiction and holds a prominent place in pop culture.
