The town of Tombstone was a rough place in the days of the Wild West. No doubt a sheriff would have had trouble keeping law and order, which means that eventually men wearing these Arizona Territory US Marshal Badges would have been a common sight. These particular badges look to be issued for the jurisdiction of Tombstone, which, at the time of Wyatt Earp, could have used quite a few good lawmen. It's been said that Wyatt Earp and his brothers wore similar badges, during their initial showdown with the rogue cowboys who called Tombstone their home. This badge is patterned after the typical US Marshal badge, looking more like the modern-day shield than the typical round and star-shaped badges that typify typical western lawmen. The exterior of the badge reads 'Marshal' along the top and 'Tombstone A.T.' along the bottom, while the star-shape in the center features a 'US' engraving. The badge is crafted entirely from metal and features an antique silver finish that perfectly completes its classic appearance. It has a diameter of approximately 2 inches. This Arizona Territory US Marshal Badge is a great way to own a piece of western history, as it recreates the look and feel of the same badges that the Earps would have worn when they took on the cowboys in the streets of Tombstone.
The Wild West refers to a time and place in American history surrounding the settlement of the western states in the second half of the nineteenth century.
