Ancient Greeks and Romans wore a wide variety of practical and decorative footwear, all of it flat soled (without heels). The military wore a heavy-duty, hobnailed standard-issue military marching boot. Shoemakers employed sophisticated strapwork and delicate cutting to create an intricate and decorative designs. Some soldiers would ornament their boots with a small animal’s muzzle or a pair of paws. Later the fashion became vogue to decorate buskins with lappets of leather or fur hanging from the tops.
This pair of military leg (shin) straps are the perfect addition to many of our Ancient Roman or Grecian warrior uniforms and can be used for historical events, a school play, or simply a fun day as you march through Ancient Sparta or Rome.
The Greeks are known to be the cradle of western civilization and The Romans grew from a village in rural Italy to an Empire.
