The Gunfight at the O.K Corral is a legend of the Wild West—the tale of cowboy outlaws riding into Tombstone, facing off in the middle of the street with lawmen, is a true and tremendous tale from the late 1800s. Marshals Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, along with other men, won that storied shootout, chasing out the dangerous cowboys and cementing their place in history. Yet Doc Holliday had a life filled with truly wild adventures throughout the western United States.

Of all the famed gunslingers of the Wild West, only one earned his nickname not based on his rebellious lifestyle, but his education: Doc Holliday. Born John Henry Holliday, “Doc” gained a new name thanks to his degree in dentistry, which he earned at age 21. For years, he practiced as a dentist in Atlanta, but after being diagnosed with tuberculosis, Doc moved to the Southwest in hopes of curing himself with warmer weather. In Arizona, Doc Holliday changed his profession, becoming a gambler (a profession quite respected in the 19th century).

In his new career as a gambling man, Doc Holliday found himself in confrontations often. During one in Texas, Holliday saved Wyatt Earp’s life and the two formed a lifelong friendship. In 1880, Holliday followed Earp to Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Prescott, Arizona. When the men made their way to Tombstone, Doc Holliday was deputized along with Wyatt Earp—and soon after, Doc Holliday was fighting alongside his friend at the O.K. Corral. After that storied gunfight, Earp and Holliday joined together as a federally deputized duo who pursued outlaw cowboys across the West, continuing until Holliday died from tuberculosis.

An exclusive piece in our Heritage Costumes Famous People collection of quality costume clothing, this adult Doc Holliday costume is authentic to the 1800s and the attire won by the storied gunman of the O.K. Corral himself. You’ll look just like the famous gunfighter when you don this historically accurate costume set. To capture Holliday’s attire accurately, this costume includes a fully lined Victorian frock coat, a red brocade formal vest, a white pleated front wingtip tux shirt, a black western string tie, and a felt western Doc Holliday hat. You’ll look the part of a man on the western frontier with this costume set straight out of the 19th century.

Of course, every Old West sharpshooter needs a few accessories to keep order in town, too. No western man during the 19th century went without his western holster, revolver, old fashioned pocket watch, western badge, or Doc Holliday mustache. If you’d like to enhance your Doc Holliday attire with our Heritage Costume accessories (which are not included with the purchase of this costume), you can pair this costume outfit with these options from our wide selection of added details to create your very own personalized costume.
